What is The Halloween Dog Walk?

Join us for a spooky illuminated evening walk round Dunham Massey on the 31st October.

This Halloween Dog Walk is support of local childrens’ charities. Dogs are welcome as well as their hoomans and fancy dress encouraged!

You can choose from two start times – 4pm and 6.30pm to complete the illuminated course through the forest and park in time for Tricks & Treats afterwards. Parking is available off site*

The walk is a circular route on public footpaths, and dogs must be kept on leads at all times.

There will be catering at parking locations, all within a short walk of the course. Marshalls will illuminate the pathways, and you can show your support for the local childrens’ charities by purchasing LED dog collars and hooman wristbands.

The Halloween Walk is a family and dog friendly 5km walk around Dunham  Massey public footpaths on 31st October 2026 in aid of the Children's Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), lighting up the forest in a spooky glow.

The Halloween Walk is raising money for local charity the Children's Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) from ticket, food and merchandise sales.

There is a 4pm start and a 6.30pm start. So if want to walk with friends you should ensure that you buy tickets and parking for the same event day and time! Then you can walk together and enjoy the treats at the end together

The main start point is at The Dunham Barn, where you will also find our Halloween Village with food & drink, Halloween goodies and face painting. Other parking areas nearby lead to our village, and from there you can enter Dunham to follow the illuminated footpaths round a 5km course.

There are parking spaces available for both start times- if you want a guaranteed parking space you need to purchase a Family Plus Ticket which includes parking along with a welcome drink and some other goodies.

You will be sent details of where you car park space is nearer the event date. If you have accessibility needs please advise us of this on booking and we will allocate you an space nearest the start point.

You have to stick to the outlined course, and must stay on public footpaths at all times. Marshalls will light the way. Dogs must stay on leads at all times and you should keep your children near you. All National Trust and Countryside Code rules must be followed.

Please dress appropriately for the weather. Our cancellation policy does not cover normal October weather conditions and it may be cold, wet and windy. If there is a Yellow or worse storm warning, we may have to reschedule the event. Our refund policy does not allow refunds for adverse weather as long as it is safe. That might be wet! Refunds are not possible within 7 days of the event, unless we cancel it.

We are closing the course parking venues at 9pm, so you need to be finished by then.

We have a no quibble cancellation policy up to 7 days before the event, and your entry fee will be returned in full minus any platform or card fees deducted. Once inside the 7 day period, no refunds are available but you can transfer into a future event.

There are donation points for CAFT on the course, at the face-painting stage, and online

There are no WC's on the course. Our Halloween village has toilet facilities.

The route will be marked by marshals with illumination equipment, and there will be feature marker lights, beacons and marshal glow sticks marking the pathways. Stay on the path and always walk clockwise round the course!

The event is open to all ages. Those over 70 have slightly less insurance protection.

Buggies will have to be lifted over the stile entrances to the park area. As the National Trust Car Park being unavailable, direct access is not possible without going over the stiles. Access to the parking and catering venues is straightforward, and there are indoor provisions for those with additional needs to stay off the course.
