Values & Objectives

Our goal is to guide you towards earning a marathon medal by safely completing a 42km walk through scenic, flat countryside. Our events are designed to be accessible and inclusive, removing barriers to entry while prioritising your safety and comfort.

We take pride in building confidence, teamwork, and creating lasting friendships among participants.

Route

The Giant Walk starts in Hale on Mersey and continues along the estuary to the Ship Canal approaching Stockton Heath. After a lunch rest, we take the transpennine trail and Bridgewater canal past Lymm through Dunham to finish in Hale Cheshire  – a full distance marathon with plenty of facilities en route.

Training & Support

Endurance walking can feel daunting, but our mission is to make earning a marathon medal accessible to everyone. With professional guidance, expert tips, and consistent support in the lead up to the event, you will be well prepared for the challenge.

As long as you can comfortably walk for several hours in your chosen kit, we will help you reach the finish line safely. The route is very flat and our support vehicle, equipped with medical supplies and essentials, acts as a moving base throughout the day.

This makes the Giant Walk not only achievable for individuals, but also ideal for team building and CSR days for corporate groups.

All for charity

The Giant Walk encourages participants to fundraise for a cause of their choice. We are a Just Giving approved event, and you can raise money or awareness for any UK Registered Charity. We find that whilst walking, posting on your social media is an excellent way to engage your supporters who will see your marathon unfold.

People

Trek leaders are UK qualified and place your safety as their top priority. Their leadership style is inclusive and supportive, helping you develop your own personal journey throughout the walk.

Volunteer guides and mentors support the route, stay in contact with Event Control, help keep you on track, and ensure you move at a pace that works for you.

If you are looking for chip timing or a competitive atmosphere, the Giant Walk is probably not for you.
