Join us on 10 May 2026 for a unique marathon distance walking challenge from Hale on Merseyside to Hale in Cheshire. The Giant Walk is a 42 km charity fundraiser organised by Regenesis Events CIC, a specialist non profit focused on endurance walking events.
This fully supported walk follows a mostly flat route divided into four sections. We begin at Hale Lighthouse on the Mersey Estuary, walk through the village of Hale past the Giant Childe of Hale statue, and then join the Mersey Way for the first waterside stretch. The route then follows the Manchester Ship Canal before joining the sheltered Trans Pennine Trail. Planned rest, food and WC stops are provided along the way, including a lunch stop in the village of Stockton on Heath at halfway.
The final section takes us through Dunham and into Hale, finishing at the Millennium Clock. A support coach will travel with the event, allowing walkers to store belongings and access the onboard WC during scheduled stops. The coach can also return walkers from the finish back to the start for an additional charge.
